Another Bay...
It is really nice to be in this space again, how I’ve neglected this for so long. No point in apologizing so I will continue with this update. I’ve left my Bay Area town temporarily for a different city by the Bay, Seattle. I’m lying on the floor of small studio in Belltown, I can see Dahlia Bakery from my window, Ralph’s Deli on the far right corner and could hear seagulls...

My Reading list as follows...
One of the perks of my job is that I get to read, already I thought myself a great reader - err not so…
Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat and Obsession by Julie Powell (this one isn’t even out until December)
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Dust of a 100 Dogs by A.S. King

I'm a bookseller...
I will be changing my occupation on my passport from Nanny to Bookseller in no time. It really is a dream job working at this place. And as I have been told over and over again this past week, it will be very easy to stay in between the stacks.
It also doesn’t hurt that I happen to be working with the most amazing group of individuals. *sigh*
that is all

There are 22 candles on my cake this year...
In August it will have been a year since I left for Melbourne only to have come back 4 months later. Running out of money sucked, but I got a glimpse of what could have been. I used to be so good at the ‘transitional’ phase, it was a good place - playing things by ear and being happy.
I miss Melbourne, it’s a magical place that I could happily lose myself in for the rest of my...

The Proposition...
A few weeks ago my mother gave me this proposition of sorts, she did so with calm as to not to immediately scare me but make me think. I am in need of money, who isn’t these days… she told me of this guy she knew, nice, very clean cut, hard worker and in need of legal documents to make him a citizen of this country. And so I got the catch, he would pay whatever amount I wanted in...

A good meal will do crazy things to you...
Last night over a parisienne inspired dinner my dad very calmly turned to me and said, “out of the many dinners you’ve prepared this is my favorite…”, and then quite sincerly concluded, “go to culinary school, really go.”
In 21 years that’s the nicest thing he’s ever said to me and I really appreciated it.
Love you dad

What is your earliest memory of reading?
…asked Karen as we drove away from the crumbling precipice leaving the pacific behind. It took me a few moments before I was on the verge of tears remembering really the first time I actually read and was truly enthralled. My mother worked in a kitchen at a private college for almost 20 years. She was away from my brothers and I often but would make it up to us individually. For me it was...

Kinsey...
Was an interesting fellow… I learn about someone or something new every tuesday in Cultural Anthropology… I adore that class.
I knew of Kinsey, who he was and the research and insights but never in depth and about Kinsey himself. Wow :)
Thoughts - 12:32am
There is always one person in my family without a key, this morning it’s my 16 year old brother who has a more lively social life then I do. But that fact has never bothered me, tonight is a perfect night for staying in. I get to hear the rain. The drought here seems to be a thing of the past I hope. It’s been pouring the entire weekend and is supposed to continue the entire week.

New Philosophy - 12:30am
Looking at one thing at a time… the tree branch that scratches the top corner of my window on a particularly blustery day. Patches of dry grass on a mostly green pasture, if you focus long enough you can see the dryness progress throughout rather slowly. I’ve been trying to admire things, one at a time, it’s a different philosophy but one I think I can put to use in my own life.

Random Observations - 1am
There is a sound directly behind my wall that has me wanting to pour my hot cuppa chamomile and lavender love over my face! Er, what the eff is that? It sounds like a bathtub being drained on like full blast volume and a lawn mower simultaneously.
Today has been productive, walked away with about $110 and 6 lovely pages filled in my journal. I’m lucky if I get through 2 a day but 6!?!?!?!
